Threading vs Waxing for Eyebrows

Short answer: threading gives the most precise, defined arches and is gentler on delicate brow skin; waxing is faster for larger areas.

Threading

A twisted cotton thread removes hair in clean lines for crisp, controlled arches — no chemicals, ideal for sensitive skin. It’s our recommended method for brows.

Waxing

Quick and effective, better suited to larger areas than fine brow shaping. Some prefer it for speed.

Side by side: what each actually does

Both remove the hair, but the mechanism is completely different.

• Threading pulls individual hairs out by the root using a twisted cotton thread. Only the hairs you want gone come out. The arch stays crisp.
• Waxing applies a thin layer of wax across the area, then strips it — taking both hair and a fine layer of dead skin with it. Faster on large areas, less precise on detail.

When threading is the right pick

• You want a precise arch or have an uneven brow you want reshaped.
• You have sensitive skin or have reacted to wax before.
• You're on retinols or exfoliating acids (threading doesn't interact with them the way wax does).
• You want minimum redness — threading leaves almost none.

When waxing is the right pick

• You want upper lip, chin or sideburns done in the same appointment.
• You want a "clean" overall look across the whole brow area in one pass.
• You're not worried about losing the very tail-end detail of your arch.
