Natural henna, two ways

• Organic henna hair & beard colour — rich, natural colour that covers greys and is gentle on hair.

Hand art vs hair & beard colour: different processes

Both use natural henna, but the application, timing and aftercare are completely different. Pick the right one for what you want.

• Henna hand art (mehndi) — paste applied in fine lines on hands (or feet, forearms). Paste is left to dry on the skin for 1–2 hours, then scraped off. The stain develops over the next 12–24 hours into a rich reddish-brown. Lasts 1–2 weeks, fading gradually.
• Organic henna hair & beard colour — paste mixed with hot water and applied to scalp and hair, massaged in. Left on for 1–3 hours depending on hair length and how dark you want the result. Washes out gradually over days; greys are covered with a warm tone rather than a synthetic black.

You can book both for the same visit if you have time. Most clients pick one.

Henna aftercare — what makes designs last

The first 12 hours after hand art determine how dark and how long the design lasts. Here's the practical version.

• Leave the paste on as long as you can. 2 hours is the sweet spot. The longer it sits, the darker the eventual stain.
• Scrape, don't wash. When you remove the paste, scrape it off dry. Avoid water for the next 6–8 hours — sleep with the design on if you can.
• Apply a sealant — lemon-sugar mix or a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Locks in moisture and helps the dye oxidise deeper.
• Skip water activities for the first 24 hours. Pools, sea, long showers will fade the design fast.

Following this, designs typically last 10–14 days. Sun, soap, and friction will fade them; moisturising helps.

Bridal and event henna — booking lead time

Bridal henna is a different beast. Detailed designs for hands and feet take 2–4 hours each, often done across two days for full bridal coverage.

• Book at least 2 weeks ahead for bridal or event work. We block out a long slot and need time to plan the design.
• Pre-bridal trial — a smaller test design 2–3 weeks before helps us agree on style and density.
• Day-of — we come to your hotel, condo, or venue. The henna needs 2+ hours to set, so plan the rest of your day around that.
• Group bookings (bridesmaids, family) — we can handle 2–3 hands in parallel if timing is tight; talk to us about logistics.
